...

I made a background for my animation and looked more into the story line I could follow. I have came up with a few extra ideas and decided on one to go ahead with. Next lesson I will be able to finally begin creating my animation! Below is one of the backgrounds I will be using. Basically it's just grass..

Stop-motion Animation Research

Stop-motion (also known as stop-action or frame-by-frame) is an animation technique to make a physically manipulated object appear to move on its own. The object is moved in small increments between individually photographed frames, creating the illusion of movement when the series of frames is played as a continuous sequence. Clay figures are often used in stop-motion for their ease of repositioning. Stop-motion animation using clay is called clay animation or clay-mation.

What i've done..

I made a tree, a bush, a snake, an apple, an orange and a mud patch with carrots in it :)

...

I also thought that i could put at least a little bit of a story to my animation. And have Mr Snake fall off a cliff/down a hole right at the end :(

I know its a duck.. but i couldn't find a snake :/ I apologize.

Change of Mind.. AGAIN :(

I've decided that the 'Hungry Caterpillar' Idea isn't going to work and is going to take too long. Even if i shortened the story, cause i would have to make too many things out of playdoh. So i have now decided to do a snake instead of a caterpillar and not have him eating everything, just slithering past stuff, like bushes and other animals.

Playdoh Banana ;)

Experimenting on making food from playdoh..

Not very good quality :(

Building caterpillars..

I practiced different techniques of creating caterpillars and decided that the method of using playdoh and wire would be the best way to make it.

Caterpillar

I have decided now to still use the hungry caterpillar idea, however, i am going to change it around a little. I am going to do the life cycle of a caterpillar instead. Starting from laeve, to the caterpillar, to the cocoon and finally the butterfly. I may also add a grave in at the end ;)

Here's my caterpillar.. Called Eric :D

Ideas..

I will need to use play dough to create my caterpillar model and other things. Such as the example below.

PS: I didn't make this one :(

The Story Line :)

Change of Mind.. Again :/

I was thinking of other story lines that i could use for my animation. And thought of doing a story line that has already been written. Such as 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar'. However, for this i think it would be much better to use clay models instead of lego. So i am going to look more at clay animation and quite possibly do this instead of my other ideas.

Currently..

I have been looking at more examples of lego stop motion. An am now thinking of a story line to go along with my animation.

I have now thought of a few stories i could use as the plot for my animation. So am going to draw up a story board on the final one i choose.

My thoughts..

So far i've looked at stop motion animations on the internet using models out of Lego and other things similar. I have decided that I am going to base my own animation on the same idea. Using lego or something like clay models.

Practiced making some clay models

Techniques and Styles of Stop Motion Animation Assignment

At the end of my first assignment I came to the conclusion that I wanted to do my cartoon using cut out animation. However, since then I have had a slight change of thought. Now I have decided to use Stop Motion Animation to produce my cartoon. I have looked further into it and believe it would be best and more enjoyable for me to complete using this method.
